Obstacle or Opportunity?

A strange blessing graced our family today.  Most would not call it that, but God’s Word compels us to (James 1:2-3).  My husband lost his job.  For us, virtually an atomic bomb.  The temptation to panic was there considering we have 6 children to care for and a loan for a new home construction pending.

But God’s timing is soooo perfect.  Just yesterday evening, I was listening to an online sermon from a good pastor friend of ours and he was referencing Isaiah chapter 6 where Isaiah sees the LORD “sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.”  Listening to that sermon and picturing in my mind what Isaiah must have seen (although I’m sure my mind falls far short!), struck an awe in me that has lasted through today.  When my husband called to tell me he had lost his job, like I said, the temptation to panic was there, but thinking again about Isaiah’s vision of God on His throne in His glory kind of melted away any tension.  It really helped me keep things in perspective, understanding that God is still God, He certainly wasn’t taken by surprise by this, He is in ABSOLUTE CONTROL, and He’s got a reason for this happening.  So through the day as I prayed on it and thought about it some more, I am beginning to find it rather exciting to see how God is going to use this for our GOOD (Romans 8:28).

I read somewhere (now I really can’t remember where!) just a few weeks ago that the Chinese word for “crisis” is the very same word they use to mean “opportunity.”  I believe that when God closes one door, He opens another one.  And He does promise to provide if we are seeking Him and His kingdom.  I am certain that God will use this for our GOOD and ultimately for His GLORY.  Will you pray and watch with me what He does?  🙂
